A New Disease to Fear
The very word cancer triggers a sense of helplessness as well as fear for all of us mortals. There are several dreaded forms of this disease and a newer one has been brought to the spotlight and it goes by the name mesothelioma cancer. It occurs in factory workers as well as those who are continually exposed to asbestos.
 The asbestos fibers are the causative agent of mesothelioma. This cancer occurs in the lining of the internal organs of the body and that includes the heart as well as lungs .It even includes the abdomen and chest area too. The lining of the lungs is the pleura and any formation of scar tissue shall trigger malignancy in the lungs as they shall be protected no more. The asbestos fibers are ingested or inhaled not only by the workers of an asbestos or alike, factory but also by those who wash their clothes.  When these particles of the fibers get attached to the lining of any organ, be it pericardial or peritoneum it injures it. This leads to scarring of the tissue and hence malignant mesothelioma. No wonder people affected by this rare and deadly disease are protesting the use of asbestos. However a ban on asbestos is still a dream as it has several uses as a mineral.  Both inhalation and ingestion of asbestos can cause this disease and hence wearing mask may be a little helpful if you are a factory worker.
